Chimney Liners
The purpose of a chimney liner is to protect the chimney. Unlined chimneys can allow heat to move through the chimney too quickly causing adjacent woodwork to catch fire.
Liners protect the masonry from the corrosive byproducts of combustion. If flue gases are allowed to penetrate to the brick and mortar, the result is a reduction in the usable life of the chimney. Flue gases are acidic in nature and literally eat away at the mortar joints from inside the chimney. As mortar joints erode, dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide can leak into the living areas of the home.
Fireplace Inserts (Gas and Wood Burning)
Fireplaces are a top feature desired by new homebuyers. Unfortunately, inefficient fireplaces can also allow valuable furnace-heated air to escape out of the chimney, making them really fun to look at but invaluable as a heating source. The good news is we can transform the firebox into an efficient room heater by adding an insert/liner.
